立地が山奥ではあるが、秘湯愛好家の間で根強い人気を誇る温泉。
以前は町営だったが、現在は町営時代に管理していた町内の会社が経営している。
町営から民営になった際、宿を建て替えて部屋数が多くなった。
やや温めの大きな露天風呂が特徴で、鉛川の渓谷を眺めながら入浴できる。
町営時代は、露天風呂は女湯との仕切りがやや不十分（つながっている）だったので、女性は注意が必要であったが、現在でもそうなのかは不明。
八雲町市街地からかなり遠いので注意。
