函館市、湯の川電車道路沿いの市街地に昔からあった温泉旅館兼温泉銭湯だったが、20年程前に旅館は廃業。温泉の営業は続けている。
源泉は市所有の温泉井戸で、植物園から配湯されているそうだ（源泉温度は65度）。昭和のノスタルジーを感じられる温泉で、かなりの穴場。源泉かけ流し。
