特別史跡五稜郭
五稜郭公園は、特別史跡としてだけではなく、函館有数の桜の名所でもあります。
ここには、ソメイヨシノを中心に、カンザン（関山）・フゲンゾウ（普賢象）・ウコン（鬱金）などの桜が植えられ、 その数約1600本と言われます。
もともとは、函館毎日新聞が発刊から1万号に達したのを記念に桜を植樹したのが始まりだそう。

笹流ダム
日本に現在六基しか存在しない型式・バットレスダムの一つであり、日本で最初に建設されたバットレスダムでもある笹流ダム。
現在でも函館市民の水がめとして稼働していますが、1923（大正12）年に完成した歴史的価値の高いダムであることから 土木学会によって土木学会選奨土木遺産に指定されています。
ダム下流に公園があり、ここに数十本の桜が植樹されていて、市民の憩いの場となっています。

桜ヶ丘通り
住宅街の中の桜並木で、ソメイヨシノがおよそ100本。満開になると、まるで桜のトンネルのようになります。
松陰町、柏木町、人見町、乃木町に渡る約800mの通りですが、もともとは付近の住民が桜を植えたのが始まりだそう。
一般の住宅地なので、鑑賞はマナーを守りましょう。

函館公園
函館公園は、1879（明治12）年に開園し、近代日本の歴史の中で都市公園を代表するものの一つです。
当時のイギリス領事ユースデンが、「病人にも病院が必要なように健康な人にも休養する場所が必要」という呼びかけに多くの市民が賛同し、 資金の提供や労力の提供などが相次いで工事が進められ市民参加で造築された函館公園は、全国でも類のないものといわれています。
春の花見時期には、約420本のサクラが見事に開花する桜の名所ともなっています。
