このイチョウの木は、寛政12年（1800）覚王寺の前身である龍宮庵が創建された時からのものと推定されます。
郷土の歴史を物語る樹木として、住民に親しまれています。
覚王寺は曹洞宗、明治19年（1886）に創立とのこと。
臼尻のローソン向かいなので、アクセスしやすい場所にあります。
